Generating Mobility Research for Policy

As part of our work at the Swiss Mobility Lab, we organised and conducted a workshop on Friday 24th November 2017 to place key mobility stakeholders at the centre of our research.

Prof. Bernauer at the Mobility Workshop

Participants included ‘practitioners’ from sectors and organisations central to Swiss mobility (transportation, energy, spatial development, tourism) at the federal and cantonal level, as well as scientists, from PhD candidates to professors, from the Swiss Mobility Lab. The purpose of the event was to a) support participant discussion and learning about policy-relevant research around mobility; b) ensure that research at the Swiss Mobility Lab provides relevant answers to address the current policy challenges faced by decision-makers; and c) involve key stakeholders in the policy domain in order to start to build bridges for potential future collaboration.

The event involved interactive exercises during which participants came up with numerous policy-relevant research questions and topics in the context of mobility, defended and challenged each other’s ideas about their policy-relevance, and came up with a “recipe” for policy-relevant research in the field of mobility. Overall, the event was a success in meeting its objectives.
